Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
Who we are and what we do
Heathwood Lower School has an active and supportive Parent Teacher Association (PTA), who work hard to promote a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for all those in our Heathwood family. We run events and activities for the children and their families in order to raise money, which is then used to benefit the children across the school, including Pre-School.
Our current committee consists of:
- Alicia Maclean – Chair
- Lauren Bennett– Vice Chair
- Neil Witney – Secretary
- Libby Copeman – Treasurer
Each year we hold our Christmas and Summer Fayres which are our two biggest fundraisers. In between, we run smaller events such as Quiz Nights, Secret Shopping Rooms and craft evenings for all to enjoy. With the money raised we can support the learning experiences for all the children.
Every year we run a free Easter egg hunt and every child takes home a chocolate egg, and after Sports Day we always supply ice lollies for the children.
Most of our funds are spent enriching the school environment for the children and purchasing resources that the school budgets just cannot stretch to. This includes things like outside play equipment, the outside classroom, WeDo Computerised Lego sets, Digital Cameras and coaches for school trips. Currently we are fundraising for a school wildlife garden.

How Can I Help?
We are always grateful for the support that parents give at our fundraising events, but we are very aware that no everyone can donate time due to work and family commitments. However, there are many other ways you could help out.
- Easy Fundraising
If you shop online, did you know that just by shopping through Easy Fundraising you could raise money for the school?
Many, many retailers including Argos, John Lewis, ASOS and M&S, use Easy Fundraising and for every purchase you make, they make a donation to the PTA. It costs you nothing and all vouchers and discount codes work exactly as they would directly on the retailer’s webpage.
Find out more: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/heathwoodlowerschoolpta/
- Amazon Smile
Did you know that Amazon will donate 0.5% of all eligible purchases to your favourite charity when you shop, at no cost to you whatsoever! Why not choose to support Heathwood School Parents Association by registering at www.smile.amazon.co.uk ?
- Stikins
STIKINS are fabulous sticky labels for you to name your Child’s clothes and belongings so they can be returned if they get lost. They can go through the washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and microwave and still stay stuck! Check them out at www.stikins.co.uk and quote our fundraising number (9312) so the PTA receive a donation.
- School Lottery
Our School Lottery was set up two years ago and raises some fabulous funds for the PTA whilst one member of our lottery wins a cash prize each and every week. Once again, this takes about 5 minutes to set up and enter your details and then the payment is taken by direct debit on a monthly basis and you are in with a chance of winning! https://www.yourschoollottery.co.uk/
How can I get involved?
By attending our events, you are already helping. This is how we raise funds for the school so please attend as many events as you can.
If you are able to offer a little bit more:
- Could you spare an hour or two of your time throughout the year to help run events?
- Could you share our Facebook posts on your individual class group?
- Could you buy an item from our event shopping list?
- Could you do a small leaflet drop around your local area?
- Could you pop along to a PTA meeting and offer your ideas and opinions?
- Or can you offer a little bit more and join our committee?
Whatever you can offer, no matter how small, we would really appreciate it. To find out more about how you can help or just to offer your name to a list of volunteers we can contact when we need some support, please email HeathwoodPTA@gmail.com
