School Admissions

Starting School in 2019

If you have a child who is eligible to start school in September 2019, you will be in the process of choosing a preferred school for your child. Central Bedfordshire Local Authority manages all our admissions arrangements. If you would like to enquire about sending your child to our school, then please get in touch by calling the school office (01525 377096) to arrange a visit. During a visit you will have the chance to look around the school with a member of the school leadership team and ask questions about our effective and established approach to learning.

Choosing a school for your child is a very important decision and we fully appreciate the range of factors involved in selecting a preferred school. Schools can feel very different and as a parent or carer you are best placed to identify a school that will match the expectations you have for your child. Whilst we cannot predict how many places are offered by the Local Authority to children in our catchment area, each year we do take a proportion of children from outside that area.

At Heathwood Lower, we adhere to Central Bedfordshire Council's Standard Admissions Policy for Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools.

Standard Admission Policy

  1. All 'looked after' children or children who were previously 'looked after'.
  2. Children living in the catchment area with siblings at the school.
  3. Children living in the catchment area
  4. Other children with siblings at the school
  5. Children who live nearest to the school determined by straight line distance from the school site to the child's home address
Our Published Admissions Number (PAN) is 30
