School Admissions

Starting School in 2020

If you have a child who is eligible to start school in September 2020, you will be in the process of choosing a preferred school for your child. Central Bedfordshire Local Authority manages all our admissions arrangements. If you would like to enquire about sending your child to our school, then please get in touch by calling the school office (01525 377096) to arrange a visit. During a visit you will have the chance to look around the school with a member of the school leadership team and ask questions about our effective and established approach to learning.

Choosing a school for your child is a very important decision and we fully appreciate the range of factors involved in selecting a preferred school. Schools can feel very different and as a parent or carer you are best placed to identify a school that will match the expectations you have for your child. Whilst we cannot predict how many places are offered by the Local Authority to children in our catchment area, each year we do take a proportion of children from outside that area.

At Heathwood Lower, we adhere to Central Bedfordshire Council's Standard Admissions Policy for Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools.

Standard Admission Policy

  1. All 'looked after' children or children who were previously 'looked after'.
  2. Children who appear to the Council to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
  3. Children with siblings at the school.
  4. Children of staff.
  5. Children for whom the school is their nearest lower/primary school
  6. Any other children.
Our Published Admissions Number (PAN) is 30
