Meet the Governors

Paula Bangs

Paula is currently the Chair of Governors and this is her 4th year in post.  Prior to this, she had been a Community Governor and Parent Governor with a long standing association and interest in the wellbeing of the School Community.  Her son attended Heathwood and prior to him starting she set up and coached the School Hi-Five netball team, which she is still involved with.  Paula thoroughly enjoys her involvement with Heathwood, which she considers to be a vibrant, thriving and flourishing school and she is proud to be its Chair.

 

Rosemarie Gunter

Rose became a Co-opted Governor at Heathwood in September 2013.  She sits on both the Management and Resources and Teaching and Learning Committees and is the Vice-Chair and Inclusion Governor.  She has responsibility for School Council, Sports Council, Fairtrade, Rights Respecting and British Values.  Rose has grandchildren who attend the School and Pre-School.

Rose is now retired and works in a voluntary capacity in the local community. She is Vice-Chair of the Patient Participation Group (PPG) at her surgery, Chairs  the Working Group and is Team Leader for Meet and Greet, she is also Membership Secretary for Leighton Buzzard Youth Theatre (LBYT) and a committee member of the Leighton Buzzard Philosophical Group (LBPG).    

 

Mike Chappell

Mike has been a Governor since September 2010 and is currently responsible for ICT and Health and Safety.  His two sons previously attended the School.

 

Hayley Fitch

Hayley has been a member of the Governing Body since 2013 and is currently Chair of the Management and Resources Committee.  Being a qualified Accountant with a background in Treasury Banking, she is responsible for oversight of budgets and all financial aspects of the School. She currently has one child in the school and one who has moved on to Middle School. 

 

Jonathan Young

Jonathan is coming into his third year as a parent governor and currently holds the chair for the Management and Resource committee. Jonathan's experience with Health and Safety helps bring confidence that allows proactive solutions. Having a background in project management allows him to bring new ideas to proposed projects and ideas, that the school implements. 

 

Susanne Dove

Susanne has been proud to be the Headteacher at Heathwood Lower School since September 2014.  As Headteacher she is a member of all Committees and attends all meetings.  Susanne has been working in education for more than 30 years, previously teaching in London, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire.

 

Elaine Dicocco

Elaine has been associated with Heathwood for a very long time; since she chose it as a school for her own children.  Having volunteered as a School librarian and was also an active member of the PTA, she then worked as a Teaching Assistant progressing to Language Provision nursery nurse and now is the Assistant Headteacher.  Elaine enjoys learning and opportunities to make learning fun, interesting and accessible for the children. 

 

Paul Dicker

Paul joined the school in 2005 and has taught in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 during this time.  He is currently the Year 4 teacher and Assistant Head with responsibility for SEND, and leads on a range of subject areas across the school, including Literacy, ICT and PE.  Paul thoroughly enjoys teaching at Heathwood and is proud to have been involved in a number of initiatives and changes, which have helped the school develop over the past few years.  He is heavily involved in Music and Drama and is enthusiastic about children developing their performing arts skills.  He is our Choirmaster and proudly showcases our choir's talents in school performances and outside of school.

 

 Rachel Lambert- Forsyth 

Rachel was appointed as a parent Governor in March 2017, she has a child in Year 1 and one in Pre-School. She holds a Senior Leadership position in the scientific charitable sector and has a background in science education policy. In previous roles she has led education policy and outreach initiatives, including advising the government on the 2012 National Curriculum review and more recently appointed as a Panel member of the Technical Level (T-Level) Panel in healthcare science. She has experience as a Local Authority Governor and holds a Trustee position at the Royal College of Nursing Foundation. Rachel is proud to be a Governor at Heathwood and brings experience of good governance, financial and operational management as well as strategic oversight in the charitable sector.
