Class 3 Curriculum Leaflet Autumn

Dear Parents,

The children have been producing some excellent work since they came back from their summer holidays.  I will hopefully provide you with the opportunity to see your child’s work at the forth coming consultation evenings.  Congratulations to all the pupils who have so far been rewarded with either: Star Writer, Amazing Mathematician, Values Stars or Merits.  Please keep up the excellent work throughout this term, you deserve your rewards.  Class 3 have also been awarded the Attendance bear twice last term, so keep it up.

Following on from our trip to Stockgrove Park, we have been making sun dials, investigating shadows and creating sunset pictures, plus lots of other different pieces of work.  This term we will be focusing on Geography and the World’s Continents, alongside Electricity.  Our class assembly will be on Friday 24th November at 9.00am, where we will be showing our learning from last term.

How you can help at home

Reading

In class we aim to listen to your child read as often as possible!  We ask that you spend time listening to your child read, reading to them and talking about what you have read on a daily basis.  Please encourage your child to enjoy reading and to read books of their own choosing, as well as those in our reading scheme.  All the children who we can see have been making the effort to read, will receive house points for reading.  The children will be heard during our weekly Guided Reading sessions, where we will carry on studying a range of different text types to help improve comprehension and inferential skills.

Homework

Homework will be set to encourage the pupils to develop their independent skills and these will be related to our topic of the term or improving their numeracy skills.

PE

PE lessons will take place on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons with the support of our sports coach Mr Dunstan, where we will be focusing on gymnastics and football.  Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit in school at all times (black shorts, purple t-shirt and plimsolls/trainers).

Trips & Visits

I am currently finalising a number of different Trips and Visits for next term and these details will be sent out accordingly.

If you have any queries or concerns about your child or you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call in and speak to us.

Thank you
